Haven't seen any threads on technology, hope it's not too out of place. Just looking for some advice as I don't feel comfortable with using Gmail anymore (don't trust Google).

What email provider do you use? Do you like it?

This is a good place to start. If there becomes enough interest, we can add a tech category. Till then, here we are.

I am deeply tied into the Google infrastructure on nearly all levels. So I am a bad person to answer this at the present time. I also would like to cut the ties and use an alternative to Google and Apple.

I've been considering Protonmail for email, but haven't made the move yet. They look promising and I'm thinking it might be nice to have a fresh start with my inbox, free from the loads of spam that currently fill it. Was hoping others had some experience with them or others.

I use ProtonMail. They are Swiss-based (I believe) and are very secure. Here's an line from their home page:

"We use end-to-end encryption and zero access encryption to secure emails. This means even we cannot decrypt and read your emails. As a result, your encrypted emails cannot be shared with third parties."

Sounded good to me when I signed up. I also use Brave browser. And, yes, I am just a "little" paranoid about my privacy and my data. Lol!

It’s not only about E-Mails, also about browsers and search engines. I’m mostly using DuckDuckGo, seems to me safer than google. I’m also using NordVPN, because I hate being spied about my internet activities.
